History of Pinzza

The word “pinzza” comes from the Latin “pinsere” which means to stretch, to squeeze. While many have become accustomed to pizza dough or more modern versions, the pinzza actually predates all many of the forms we are used to today. Pinzza was a favourite of the Ancient Romans and was created by them using milled grains such as barley and millet. The oval shape you see today was actually a staple of the pinzza creation in its early days, and it was used as both an offering to the gods and a way to serve meat and vegetables. While many adjustments have been made to create the delicious dough you see today, the same techniques for curing the dough (which help create the easy digestion and health benefits) is still used today.
